The DP de Villiers Stadium is a multi-sports facility.  While numerous events and sports tournaments have been hosted at the stadium, it is primarily used as a practice ground for the Sasolburg Athletics Club and the Cobras Rugby Club.

In 2012, the stadium received a major revamping, a development project that was made possible by Sasol’s infrastructure initiative, Ikusasa. These renovations have increased its popularity as the stadium, with its state-of-the-art amenities, can now host regional and national events.

Over the last few years, it has been one of the venues for the 2014 Vodacom Cup and the 2015 Valke Rugby Tournament. Additionally, runners from all over the province make their way to the stadium for the annual Sasol Marathon and half marathon.

Families can enjoy walks at the stadium’s community park, or simply enjoy the fresh air. The park comprises paved nature trails, as well as an outdoor play area for children.
